William Shatner

William Shatner calls me cracker ass. (laughter) I call him bubble butt. (applause)
[Convention: Midcon, England, September 1986, transcribed in Guyer, 1993.]

He wants to know what is my impression of William Shatner's personality. I must tell you that we very seldom see each other on social occasions. We do see each other at Star Trek conventions and we talk by phone occasionally and that sorta thing. I think he's a very bright guy and imaginative and I'm hoping that he will be able to bring Star Trek Five off beautifully. That's the important thing.

[TrekCruise, May 1987, transcribed in Guyer, 1991.]

She says that she’s heard a story about me, that every time Shatner does a drinking scene, that I’ve always spiked his drink. I... You know I wouldn’t do a thing like that. You know I wouldn’t do that to William Shatner. [starts to go to next question, then grins & gives aside] You’re right.

[Convention: Los Angeles, 10/25/87]

As a Director

About William Shatner directing the next one? How do I feel about that? (laughter) I don't know. I hope this thing doesn't get to where the monkeys are taking over the zoo. (laughter) No. I don't know. Bill, you know, is a very bright, sharp guy and he has a marvelous story mind and, as you all know, great energy. And he very well might come forth, if he is going to do it, and do a noble job. I certainly hope so. You know, it’s no small undertaking to do a film like Star Trek. They're very difficult films to do. But there again, he's been with the show so long that you certainly know how it should be done. And if he does it, I sincerely wish him the very best.

Leonard Nimoy

[About Nimoy's lifted eyebrow at the end scene of STIII] Probably his idea. Any time he feels someone's going to take a scene away from him, he lifts that eyebrow. (Laughter, applause)
[Convention: Midcon, England, September 1986, transcribed in Guyer, 1993.]

Ricardo Montalban

I enjoyed working with Ricardo Montalban best because Ricardo was part of motion pictures. I was at Paramount, as I told you. Ricardo was at MGM and we had a chance to exchange a lot of lunches together and I was privileged. He is a marvelous actor. Some things that took place with Ricardo I can't tell you about. Believe me, we had some beauties. Ricardo is a marvelous actor with a very great sense of humor and a lot of motion picture history about him.
[Convention: Baltimore, July 1985, transcribed in Guyer, 1991.]
