Star Trek TOS Zinedex: Authors (E)

Michael (Mick) Eason
"The Six-Million Credit Space Trek"     Alnitah #5 Jan. 1977 (p.2-26)
Well-drawn, pun-ridden comic-book tale of Romulans capturing the Tardis and Spock ending up as the Bionic Vulcan.

"A Lasting Request"     Alnitah #9 Jan. 1979 (p.17-20)
Short adventure story with a fine shaggy-dog denouement. McCoy desperately tries to contact Enterprise to rescue Spock from imminent death by firing squad, but Spock solves his own problem by serenading the executioners.

Vicky Edgerton
* "Wide Open Spaces"     Alpha Continuum # 4, March 1980 (p.19-21)
Spock and McCoy debate the wisdom of Enterprise's current missoin of investigating the Galactic Barrier. Cut to two exasperated aliens on a higher plane, annoyed at the creatures who keep messing up their nice restraint, only to run back into the Galaxy again, and wondering if they'll need to be destroyed. Nice alien cowboy illo.

Sharon Emily
"Christine's Decision"    Berengaria #4, March 1975
[Kraith 5-A]
While Spock takes Kirk off somewhere on Vulcan to cure his esper-shock, Christine stays with Sarek and Amanda, overhearing a conversation of theirs that convinces her she would never be a suitable mate for Spock. She determines to attempt to be a worthy friend instead. Amanda wants Sarek to make a Flame for Chris but he declares it impossible, that her mind is not suitable; Kirk and Spock need Flames to keep their creative minds from becoming unstable, but it would destroy Chris. Typical Kraith hoo-hah.

Rick Endres
The Daystrom Project (novel) Orion Press, 1987, 184p.
[also OA 2001 reissue; Orion Archives 5]
Post-ST:TMP. In a plot to take over the galaxy, Kh'Mer Klingons abduct Dr. Daystrom and his daughter in order to force him to build a multitronic computer weapon with Klingon engrams. An okay read and a few quite-good scenes, but by and large Rick's usual vicious super-Klingons raping and torturing cute little things whose only character trait seems to be helpless beauty. I liked a bit at the end when McCoy is the only one on the bridge still mobile and Spock orders him to take the weapons console. Rick lets him off, but I think it's a very nice dilemma for the doc.

"Captain's Bars"     Antares #7, June 2001 (p.10-16)
Kirk informs Sulu that his long-overdue promotion has come through - though not his ship of choice.

"Blood Oath"     Antares #7, June 2001 (p.115-116)
Kor, Koloth, Kang and Curzon Dax take the oath against the Albino that will be fulfilled in Deep Space 9.
"Helmsman"     Antares #9, June 2002 (p.3-11)
After Gary Mitchell's death, Kirk boots Sulu into the Helm position.
"Angel Face"     Antares #9, June 2002 (p. 101-115)
Rick's typical sex-laden story - this one of Chekov reminiscing over his experience during "Naked Time" - which he spent with lusty Angela Moretti of Security.
"I Never Said Goodbye"     Antares #9, June 2002 (p. 151-157)
Spock performs the ceremony of returning Sarek's ashes to the garden to mingle with Amanda's, and feels their spirits in the form of silver-birds.

Judith M. Evans
"The Last Voyage"     Galactic Discourse #3, July 1980 (p. 5-6)
Crew dismantling the old Enterprise is shocked to see her re-form, brighten up, and streak off to new adventures, with a full complement of the original bridge crew. Okay, it’s trite, but kinda sweet.
